Dan Bully

Senior Superintendent

In Memory of Dan Bully
Mentor. Teammate. Beloved.

With heavy hearts, we remember our dear friend and colleague, Dan Bully, who recently passed away. Dan was one of the originals at Ideal Builders—joining our team in 2002, not long after we opened our doors. For those who had the privilege of knowing him, it was clear from day one: Dan was the man.

“He was the greatest guy, and everyone knew it,” shared Dave Martin of our executive team. “He was brilliant, hardworking, and steady in his approach.”
Dan brought his full self to every project—focused, dedicated, and always with a gentle touch. A natural problem solver, Dan was known for his ability to find solutions where others sometimes saw roadblocks. He never threw up his hands in defeat. Instead, he leaned in with calm determination, helping teams and clients alike find a way forward.

As a Senior Superintendent, Dan once summed up his role in five words: scheduling, teaching, and problem solving. For him, “always on time” and “the right way” weren’t just phrases—they were his personal standard. And so was quality, in every sense of the word.

He was admired by clients and coworkers alike—not just for his sharp intellect, but for his humility, generosity, and unwavering kindness. Clients often requested him by name, and some even sought out additional projects just to work with him again. He once rushed to a site to help a client secure a collapsed building—despite it not being our project—because that’s who Dan was: always there when someone needed him.

Outside of work, Dan’s big heart continued to shine. He volunteered regularly with organizations like Kids Building Wisconsin, Logan’s Heart and Smiles, and his local gun club. He loved shooting, fishing, spending time with his dogs, and sharing laughs with his wife—especially about their shared love for pets, who always seemed to live like royalty in the Bully household.

Dan didn’t just work in construction—he helped shape what it means to build with purpose and heart.

Dan will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy will live on in the buildings he helped raise, the lives he touched, and the culture he helped build here at Ideal Builders. We are better because of him.
