Landmark Oaks exterior

Potter Lawson

110,000 ft²

For the Landmark Oaks project, we constructed a new five-story Class A office building shell and core complete with underground parking in a previously underdeveloped urban setting. The design team took great care in the site design and layout to maintain century-old oak trees in the center of the property, which also offers stunning views of downtown Madison due to its high elevation. Because of the unique nature of the property, we installed extensive retaining walls. On the building’s exterior, finishing touches included brick, stone, metal panels, and Nichiha composite siding.

As a nod to the oak tree at the center of the property, a leaf-patterned ceiling was installed in the halls of Landmark Oaks. Its design represents the experience of sitting below an oak as sunlight filters through the leaves. This stunning ceiling did prove to be challenging, though. It was important not to have lights and sprinkler heads drop into “leaf holes.” To achieve this, a cardboard template of the leaf pattern allowed tradespeople to ensure the newly-installed lighting and sprinkler systems do not interfere with the ceiling’s aesthetic.
