PROJECT OVERVIEW

The new Madison Blood Donation Center is a significant upgrade from its former location—expanding to 5,500 square feet, a 70% increase in size. The updated facility features stained concrete floors and a more modern, efficient layout designed to enhance both donor comfort and operational flow.

The expanded space includes 15 donor beds and supports a substantial increase in collection capacity—allowing for an estimated 500 additional blood donations and 2,000 platelet donations each year. Platelets, a key clotting component of blood, are critical for patients undergoing cancer treatment, surgery, or bone marrow transplants, as well as for those experiencing trauma.

As the nation’s largest supplier of blood, the American Red Cross provides approximately 40% of the U.S. blood supply. This facility plays an essential role in supporting that mission, ensuring a steady and reliable source of lifesaving blood and platelet products for hospitals and treatment centers across the region and beyond.
